I bought this item and the 8" pan in November 2009.The Calphalon pans were used at least 3 or 4 times a week for 3 years before they bit the dust. I only used wood and plastic spatulas and such and always washed and dried them by hand. They hung from a pot rack, so there was no chance of them getting scratched or jostled in a drawer. They definitely worked great while they lasted. Food did not stick to the surface and clean up was very easy. The glass lids were great for holding in the heat after turning off the burner and because you can see what's going on in there! However, I had to replace them both this Christmas, because the surfaces are just so worn and I worry that the "non stickiness" will flake off into foods. I found some great reviews for the Non stick surface is not sticky and has no blemishes or thin spots, pan comes with the slightly domed glass lid as shown, and the price was definitely right. Not digging this much skinnier handle though, vs the flatter, wider all-metal one of a different Calphalon pan we have from a few years ago.Works great, cleans up easy--just rinse with a drop of dish soap and a quick wipe from a Teflon-safe sponge, and you're done.. Looks great. We don't use metal utensils, the dishwasher or canned cooking sprays on our older ones and we won't on this one, either. Our other omelet pan from Calphalon has lasted for almost 8 years (with multiple uses per week), and has just started to get sticky/surface has started to get really dull and less slippery in the center, so this new pan is to replace that old one.Good value. Nice price.I have a couple of other Calphalon nonstick pans which I have owned for several years and they are still in wonderful condition. I decided to replace a 9" omelette non-stick pan (not a Calphalon) on which the interior coating was flaking badly with this 10-inch one. I was disappointed to see that right out of the box the exterior right side of the pan had 4 small chips and one can see the shiny aluminum base through the coating that the chipping has removed. Since the coating on the interior of the pan was not marred in any way, I decided to keep the pan rather than pay return shipping. I have cooked several meals in this pan and to date the pan is holding up well and have not encountered any problems with its performance. However, I think they should remove the claim that the pan does not chip from the description as mine is evidence to the contrary.this pan replaced a rather deluxe calphalon 10 inch pan because the nonstick coating began flaking. this pan doesn't look or feel deluxe, but it is nice and it showed up on my doorstep for less than $40. performance in the few days I have had it has been excellent. now that I know to avoid aerosol oil sprays (i.e. pam) I expect the nonstick coating to last many years. it is also best to hang this pan, not nest it with others. the biggest complaint so far about this item is that the hole for the hook is a little small. overall, I would say 4/5, but if you factor in the price, it deserves a bump. you may get a heavier, nicer looking pan for $100+, but when it comes time to make an omelette, this simply calphalon pan will perform just as well. all packaging and service from amazon was also top notch.I am a Calphalon lover. I have an 8 inch pan I use for eggs and needed a pan larger than that but smaller than my 12-in pan for single portion eating. I never use metal on it. The commercial where they roll around ball bearings is misleading. Those ball bearings are perfectly round with no sharp edges. I would not use a knife or other metal utensil on them. They don't need metal spatulas or spoons. Plastic or wood works great. Just put a iittle olive oil lin mine this morning and made two english style eggs (put a whole in the bread and cook the eggs in them). Was delicious and both slices fit perfectly on the bottom! I can't wait to make some grilled cheese sandwiches. First one I will make will be with cheese, bacon and tomatoes with asiago cheese melted on top in the broiler. Is it lunchtime yet? Buy it!Made by the Elves, you know... Okay seriously, I have no idea how this works. But after years of cooking with sub-par cookware, this thing might as well be magical. NOTHING sticks to it! I put it through the ultimate test. Eggs. No butter, no oil - just straight up cracked some eggs into it, and waited to see what happened. I ended up with perfect over-easy eggs. I now use this wonderful pan (along with a few others from Simply Calphalon) every day. My favorite is chicken. No oil needed. Just toss your chicken breast in there and cook. Comes out perfect. This is THE cookware to get if you're trying to cut back on fat.One word of caution though. Get the nylon turner and tongs. Do NOT use metal utensils with it, or you will scratch the crap out of it and render it's magical non-stick properties useless.Happy cooking!
